Natura 2000 Print

Natura 2000 is an across-European network of nature reserves, which rests on the two European Union directives: the so-called bird directive that treats the protection of bird species, and the so-called nature directive that treats the protection of natural and semi-natural habitats and plant species and fauna (except birds).

ELF’s experts have participated in the inventory of Natura 2000 areas. Eerik Leibak is the contact person of Estonian Chamber of Environmental Associations (EKO) in the field of Natura 2000.

Additionally, ELF in cooperation both with local and international environmental organizations is maintaining the shadow list of Natura 2000, which was presented to the European Commission as a supplement to the list presented by the Government of the Republic.
