About the flying squirrel project Print
11oravThe main goal of the flying squirrel project has been and will also be in the future to gather current information about flying squirrel’s habitat. Therefore, inventories are made of forests suitable for flying squirrels near their existing or formerly known habitat. Presently, we know of 80 habitat areas of flying squirrel.

ELF expresses gratitude to the donators who have helped to maintain the flying squirrel project. The gathered money will be used to conduct necessary surveys to disclose flying squirrels’ habitat and nests in Ida-Virumaa and Lääne-Virumaa. In ascertaining their habitat, one can prevent their unintentional damage or destruction (these areas can be left out of cutting plans). By bestowing conservation status upon such areas guarantees the suitable forest association for flying squirrels. Field works are conducted by biology students from the University of Tartu, postgraduates and nature lovers under the guidance of Uudo Timm.
