Knowledge creates respect. We believe that nature-aware people are
acting sparingly towards the environment; therefore we consider the
accessibility of natural education very important. This is especially
valid during the schooltime – period of development of value judgments.
Getting to know nature allows one a deeper understanding of the world
and its functioning. If a human does not respect his/her surrounding
environment, he/she lacks also respect for surrounding people. Feeling of nature does not come from reading the books only. It is
necessary to go to nature and with the guide’s help to listen, touch,
smell, see, experience and get to know it. ELF is fighting for
opportunities so that children and adults would spend more time in
nature.
Our long-term goal (together with other institutions involved in
natural education) is to raise the school programme’s environmental
awareness and add field work days to the curricula of natural science.
