Cross-border protection management work in nature reserves related to Lake Peipus – in Alam-Pedja, Emajõe- Suursoo and Rämeda. Print
This project aims to specify the possibilities and needs required by cross-border protection management work in three nature reserves related to Lake Peipus: Alam-Pedja and Emajõe Suursoo in Estonia and Remidov in Russia. We create opportunities of cooperation for conservationists of both countries and for the development of administrative methodology for common nature reserves. A unified action plan is being elaborated for the protection of those three wetlands. We also prepare a project proposal for the specified protection management works. Wetlands on the both sides of Lake Peipus are connected through many similar concerns with protecting birds and waterside meadows, sustainable use of migratory fish and good arrangement of visits. The intention is to inform a wider circle of interested people about the situation of nature reserves, needs and international cooperation.

The project is financed within the framework EU initiative called the Interregional Cooperation Programme (INTERREG). The project’s co-financer is the Ministry of the Interior of Estonia. The application for co-financing is presented to the Centre of Environmental Investments. The project is planned to start out after signing the contract with financers.
